The Summer Village of Waiparous recognizes the fire restrictions and bans that are in place in adjacent municipalities and in the adjacent Forest Area.
Due to extreme wildfire hazard, The Summer Village of Waiparous is adhering to the Fire Restriction that is in effect for the northern portion of the Calgary Forest Area.
Under the restriction, all existing fire permits are suspended and no new fire permits will be issued until further notice.

Tiki torches
Fireworks (always prohibited)

  • Safe campfires within APPROVED fire pits, outdoor fire receptacles and outdoor fireplaces (must hold a current and valid certificate of use issued by the Summer Village of Waiparous.
  • Gas or propane stoves and barbecues that are CSA approved or UL certified and are designed for cooking or heating.
  • Catalytic or infrared-style heaters
Never leave a fire unattended. The fire must always be supervised by at least one person 14 years of age or older and a responsible adult must be present on the property when the fire is burning.
Soak it, stir it and soak it again until cool to the touch to ensure it is extinguished. The fire must be completely extinguished before abandoning it.
An acceptable means of controlling or extinguishing the fire must be available on the property and within reasonable distance from where the fire is occurring.
If you see a wildfire, report it immediately by calling 310-FIRE.
The Fire Restriction will remain in effect until conditions improve.
